Literature Text

It's been a year Daddy.
I really really miss you.
Mom said your in a safe place now,
A place called Heaven.
We had strawberries at dinner tonight,
Sorry, 'traw tibbies'.
I don't have to hold my nose underwater anymore,
I can even open my eyes.
Can you see me?

It's been 5 years Daddy.
I'm a freshman now.
I really like computers,
But math is still hard.
Mom still lets me sleep in one of your tee shirts.
I think it still smells like you.
I still sleep with the door cracked,
Yes, the hall light stays on too.
I try not to cry Daddy,
but it still hurts.
I really miss you Daddy.
Can you see me?

It's been ten years daddy.
I graduated high school.
I graduated from Tech.
I hope you're proud of me.
I'm also in the technical honor society.
Did you see me on stage?
I'm still thinking about colleges.
Do you think I could be an artist?
I know you'll be with me when I walk down the aisle.
I try not to be sad, but it hurts.
I hope you know you're my hero.
I love you so much.
Can you see me?
I found this poem on facebook. I lost my dad 10 years ago. I modified this poem.

The poem was originally intended for all of those loved ones lost on this tragic day, 9 11. Personally, it has been 10 years. its hard to get over the loss of a loved one, but impossible when every anniversary there is a memorial. America, you need to learn how to grieve properly.
